SeCuM, aka the Self-Curating Musician, is a musician who designs their practice based on an artistic and entrepreneurial skill set, but with the curating mind set. This mind set is fivefold : story creation, activating creativity, community engagement, seeking uniqueness and understanding performance practice.

In my position as president of the music programme at KASK & Conservatory Ghent I initiated the SeCuM project to find innovate higher music education, in collaboration with 5 other institutions throughout Europe. After 2 years of brain storms and preparations the project concluded last week with a bootcamp for young music professionals and students. This was a super intensive week of lectures, workshops, performative sessions, debating, dancing, improvising, sharing and connecting. 7 days, 14h a day!

Please consult the SeCuM website to explore the outcomes (presentations and feedback) of the project. More formal findings and articles will follow soon.

SeCuM was funded by Creative Europe and the City of Ghent.
